About us

Our mission is to strengthen and develop the insurance market, foster cooperation among insurers, and establish a platform for open dialogue with state institutions. We actively contribute to the improvement of the legislative framework in the insurance sector and strive to involve the entire insurance community in the economic development processes of the country.
UNAM's vision is to become the leading platform for collaboration and development of Moldova's insurance market, protecting the interests of companies and contributing to legislative reforms aimed at ensuring the country's sustainable economic growth.

History of UNAM

The Union of Insurers from the Republic of Moldova was established on October 3, 2008, based on the decision of 3 insurance companies:

Sigur-Asigur SRL, represented by General Manager Mr. Sergiu Certan;
Victoria-Asigurări SRL, represented by General Director Mr. Octavian Lungu;

Moldova-Astrovaz SRL, represented by Chairman of the Board Mr. Feodor Dimitrov.
At that time, the establishment of the UNAM was based on the provisions of Article 36 of Law No. 407/2006 on Insurance, which stipulated that insurers could form professional unions to represent collective interests, address issues of common concern, promote cooperation, inform association members and the public, and organize services of mutual benefit. Additionally, they could join international professional unions while adhering to the obligations outlined in their founding documents.

According to the decision of the Founding Assembly of the UNAM, Mr. Mihai Manoli was appointed President for a five-year term at the time of its establishment.

By 2012, the number of members of the UNAM had increased to seven insurance companies, which were the most prominent players in the insurance market. Together, they accounted for 84% of the market share within the union.

The Statute of the Association

The operational principles, objectives, and methods for achieving them, as well as the members and governing bodies of the Public Association UNAM, are regulated by its Statute, which is approved by the General Assembly of the UNAM’s members.
